Myvi ‘stick man’ arrested again for vehicle theft
KUALA LUMPUR: A Perodua Myvi driver has been arrested for dangerous driving and using a stick to threaten other motorists. In addition, he has been detained over vehicle thefts in the Klang Valley and Johor.
Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai said the 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday in Kuala Selangor.
“The arrest enables us to solve cases of vehicle thefts reported in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Johor,” he said in a statement today, Bernama reported.
Police also seized a car key and remote control, a white Perodua Myvi with fake registration plate PGT124, a 90cm cane, two sets of Yamaha motorcycle keys and three motorcycles with fake registration plates.
Beh said the suspect, who has previous criminal offences, has been remanded for three days until Sunday.
The driver was arrested on Monday after a 27-second video was widely-shared showing a man driving in a dangerous manner and using a piece of wood to threaten other motorists on the Middle Ring Road 2 near Taman Layang-Layang, Kepong.
On Sunday, Beh said a motorist had lodged a report about a Myvi being driven dangerously and zig-zagging along the road near Taman Layang-Layang, Kepong. A video clip was widely shared on social media.
The complainant said the driver in front braked several times, causing him to almost hit the Myvi. When the complainant honked at the Myvi, the driver waved a long stick and started yelling something.
