Covid-19 recoveries continue to outnumber new infections
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Covid-19 recovery rate exceeded new infections for the third day in a row.
The Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal reported that 2,124 people recovered from the virus compared to 1,918 fresh cases registered yesterday.
On May 23 and 22, there were 2,905 and 3,389 recoveries which outnumbered 1,544 and 1,817 positive cases respectively.
New cases on May 24 consisted of 1,896 local transmissions and 22 imported cases.
The nation’s cumulative number of Covid-19 cases is now 4,494,782 since the pandemic struck in 2020 while recoveries stood at 4,434,195.
There were 24,940 active cases with a majority of 23,811 patients being home quarantined.
Those who were hospitalised amounted to 1,075 with 32 others, both ventilated and unventilated, being warded mostly at intensive care units in Klang Valley hospitals.
Only 22 patients are placed at quarantine and low risk treatment centres.
There were 478 hospital admissions yesterday largely into Klang Valley hospitals with 154 patients and in Johor with 122.
Two deaths due to Covid-19, with no brought-in-dead cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total number of fatalities to 35,647.
All states to come under Phase 4 of recovery plan from Monday
