PETALING JAYA: Umno Supreme Council member Noh Omar has denied the existence of warring camps within the party, saying there were merely differences of opinion between certain quarters.“Umno only has one camp, we don’t have a group A or B. If there were (camps), that would mean we are at war with each other, but that’s not the case.

“Differences of opinion within the party do not mean we are divided,” he said, according to Utusan Malaysia.

The Selangor Umno chief said that in politics, it was normal to have differing opinions, though this can be overcome as a “family”.

On Monday, Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, who was recently removed as an Umno Supreme Council member, had called on Zahid to step down as the party’s president.

The Pasir Salak MP accused Zahid of making decisions for the party unilaterally, saying members of the Supreme Council, the highest decision-making body in Umno, simply went along with his decisions.

Tajuddin also claimed he was a “living witness” to Zahid’s efforts to get Umno MPs to sign statutory declarations (SDs) backing opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
