MAKKAH: Malaysian pilgrims in the Holy Land are preparing for their journey to Arafah for Wukuf Day which falls on July 7.

Some pilgrims are making full use of the remaining days to review the main pillars of haj and its obligatory aspects and attend religious talks at their respective maktabs (accommodations) while others prefer face-to-face sessions with the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) personnel.

TH’s operations director (Guidance), Ustaz Tengku Aziz Raja Abdullah, said he is constantly reminding Malaysian pilgrims to watch their health while they strive to increase their worship activities when they are in Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina.

He explained that the pilgrims would spend the night in Muzdalifah before travelling to Mina to perform the stoning ritual at Jamrah Kubra and then stay overnight in Mina.

He said he also reminded the pilgrims to continue making duá to Allah and asking for His forgiveness and blessing so that their haj journey would be facilitated.

He said this when met after giving religious talks to pilgrims at TH’s headquarters in Abraj Al Janadriah here.

In addition, he said he advised the pilgrims to carry out worship activities at the surau provided by TH or in their rooms due to the hot weather condition so as not to strain themselves before the big day.

Wukuf Day at Mount Arafah is the peak of the haj.

Meanwhile, Malaysian pilgrims met expressed their excitement to perform the final leg of their journey and prayed that their movements would be eased.

Noorhisyam Yaakob, 43, who was called to perform haj at the last minute said the only thing he wanted on Wukuf Day was Allah’s acceptance and forgiveness, adding that he had been attending religious talks organised by TH in preparations for the day.

Mohd Khairul Hisham Mohd Daud, 42 said there is still so much to improve as this is his first haj.

“My mother passed away when she was 37…I was still in school…I came here to pray what is best for my mother,” he said adding that he regularly held discussions with other pilgrims in preparation for Wukuf Day.

Fellow pilgrim, Ahmad Safwan, 30 said he prioritises physical and mental healthcare besides attending sessions to increase understanding of the principles of haj before the grand day.

He said on Wukuf Day he would pray for Allah’s forgiveness and acceptance, not only for himself but for his family members and fellow Muslims. — BERNAMA
